Notice: 2026-2028 Executive Committee Nominees & Proposed Amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws

The following nominees are submitted for consideration the and amendments were approved by the NVCMA Executive Committee on January 14, 2026.

Section Header: Proposed Nominations to the Executive Committee (2-year terms)

The following officer slate was recommended by the board. According to Article V, Section 3. Of the NVCMA bylaws, additional nominees may be placed on the ballot by petition with the deadline for such nominations being no less than two (2) weeks prior to the annual meeting. Petitions for additional nominees will be filed with the Nominating Committee, and any additional petitions must be submitted by no less than two (2) active members not of the same jurisdiction. The petition deadline is April 23, 2026 through NVCMA’s Contact Page. If you are interested in serving on the NVCMA board, please consider throwing your hat in the ring.

Section Header: Proposed Amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws

The NVCMA leadership team routinely reviews and improves the NVCMA Constitution and Bylaws to ensure they are reflective of the organization. During the January 14, 2026, Executive Board Meeting, the Board approved amendments for the consideration of the membership during the 2026 annual meeting.

The amendments were largely administrative in nature to ensure cohesion. Below is a summary of major proposed changes for consideration and approval during the May 7, 2026 annual meeting.

  • Section 2. Associate Membership

    • Addition of a new Associate Membership type.

      • §  Proposed language: Retired Member. Any person who was previously a member and has retired from a local Nevada government shall be eligible for retired membership by providing written notice to the Secretary/Treasurer.

    • Removal of Student Membership

      • §  Proposed removal: Section 3. Student Membership

        • Any individual enrolled in a full time or part time education program who is not eligible to be an Active or Associate Member may become a Student Member upon payment of annual dues established by this Association.

    • Addition of Members in Transition

      • §  Proposed language: Section 3.  Members in Transition (MIT)

        • Any Active Member of this Association who has resigned or has been removed from their position with a local Nevada government and meeting the requirements of an ICMA Member in Transition (MIT), may retain their status as an Active Member of NVCMA for up to twelve (12) months without payment of dues by providing written notice to the Secretary/Treasurer.  After 12 months, they will be eligible to become an Associate Member.
